Our school district just posted a sample weekly lesson plan for distance learning in elementary school. It's more complicated than a 20 credit college semester and includes wonders like having 6 year olds sit in front of their chromebook for 75 minute math lessons that start times like 1:15pm. They are basically forcing an adult to be present.

And the older kids get "virtual athletics" where "participation equity" is key. smfh.

Looking at the current trajectory - by tomorrow the total cases in the US will surpass our population over here

Democrats offered to meet The White House halfway on the Covid stimulus (fairly literally, in terms of price tag) and were turned down. That’s a really bad sign for any hopes of a deal getting done soon.

Welp. Co-worker at part time job was positive so now we all have to be tested. That's twice for me. They said if two more are positive, they're shutting down for two weeks.

I'm in Hilton Head. They have a mask requirement for indoor spaces. Those masks come off the second people walk out the door. No wearing them in the parking lot. No wearing them in the narrow (outdoor) hallway of our resort.

I can't figure out if these people are never-maskers, people who follow ONLY the letter of the law, or if they just figure, "fuck it! I'm not gonna worry about COVID. I'm on vacation.'

The paper here ran an article which discussed how the county right next to St. Louis county (st charles county, which I happen to live in) was going about their pandemic procedures. No mask mandate, but recommended. And social distancing,etc. this county is so backwards sometimes. Anyway, They talked to a lady who was shopping in old town st Charles (touristy spot) and she says she wears her mask when the business has a sign up that masks are required, but if the store doesn’t have the sign, then she doesn’t.

That defeats the whole purpose of wearing a mask. If you pick and choose it’s not going to be effective for you or nearby people. Some people don’t make sense.
