Democrats should be less worried about the winning the presidency and more worried about regaining the Senate.

It's not that I disagree with you, but it's obvious that they have to win one or the other.

Would a Democrat-led house try to block all Trump SCOTUS appointments? I'd be disappointed.

A Trump administration and Democratic Senate for 2017-2018 is the must unlikely scenario, I'd say. However, if it did happen I would expect that Merrick Garland would get snap confirmed in early January, because remember that the new Congress arrives before the new President.

...a church was burnt and "vote trump" written on the side
...a supporter hid a blade in a Trump sign and put it up at a polling place
...Trump pointed a member of the media out at a rally, and she immediately began receiving death threats
...a female accuser cancelled a press conference because she (supposedly) received death threats

TV media's coverage: "Trump doing better in the polls."

Today a Trump supporter dressed "as a terrorist" (he put on a ski mask and carried a knife) carrying around a Clinton for Prez sign. He was arrested at gunpoint and later complained that he was just exercising free speech. This was in Massachusetts.
