I know it's not new, but I really don't like the trend of deliberately making bad movies. For a movie to fall into the "so bad it's good" category the film makers have to actually have been trying to make a good movie.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Despite being one of the most popular Marvel series, Guardians 3 only took in $114 mil this weekend, compared to $142 mil for part 2. It's not entirely fair to compare the two, but it did fall slightly short of expectations regardless. I see nothing else in Marvel's lineup except Spider-man that is even close to the same popularity.

Good word of mouth will keep this one strong for a couple of weeks. At the very least, it won't have the monumental fall-off that Ant-Man 3 had (precisely due to negative word of mouth)

When you factor in ticket inflation which is sharply up over the last few years its pretty clear that Marvel has lost part of the audience. If they went by a tickets sold metric it would be incredibly obvious. I don't know if its superhero fatigue or if its Disney cause Lucasfilm and Pixar are struggling as well at the box office and TV ratings. Used to be a license to print money. Oversaturation is my guess and a string of underwhelming products. There's probably some taking the audience for granted. They'll watch anything with this label on it type of thing. GOTG 3 is one of the few recent releases I'm interested in from them I might see it next weekend. Indy V scares me to death but I'm at least curious. After that I don't know what they got worth getting excited about. The Little Mermaid remake will probably go a long way in finding out how much trouble they are in. If that underperforms it'll be a disaster.

Sadly it seems like the shitty live action remakes are the only things that are working for Disney right now. I hope LM bombs, but it probably won't.

Everything about Disney+ was a bad idea. As crazy as it is to say Sony are the only ones with brains. Make stuff and have other people pay you to put your content on their services instead of wasting money on your own streamer.

If I were them I would shift away from all the Avengers stuff and focus on a rebooted X-Men. There is tons of stuff to mine there.

Dropping all of Cage's films in to their own genre, especially since his financial fallout, is probably a fair idea.
