Anyone voting on any interesting ballot initiatives or referendums this year?
We have seven but none are interesting. Question 1 is about opening a casino, which I could not care less about. Question 2 is a very, very small change to the state legislature's ethics commission. Then the other 5 are all borrowing issues (port revitalization, education, etc etc).

We had four. Two were boring, one was related to medical marijuana, and there was one interesting one: Should the county impose a tax levy to put about $20M into upgrading the local jail cells and court house. Why don't you care about the casino question? That's a big one.
Saying "I couldn't care less" isn't the best way to express it, I guess. I probably should have said: "I feel torn by both sides so I don't really care if it passes or not." It'd probably bring in a lot of tax money, but I don't like how casinos prey on addicts. Even though we're a small state, it's not really close to me--there's actually already a casino 15 miles in either direction from my house--so I wouldn't feel all NIMBY if I voted "no."

The good people of California have decided that everything worthwhile must be a constitutional amendment via voter proposition. I'm not sure why we have a legislature anymore. At this point it would make more sense to go to a Swiss direct democracy approach.

Oh. The name of the law firm representing her (a patent lawyer IIRC) isn't shielded, so they gotta know they will be target for the anti-trump crowd. Maybe businesses will start taking cybersecurity seriously after all this.
