Ok. It doesn't feel as processed as the prequels, definitely has a warmer feel, kind of like the OT. So that alone makes it way better than the prequels. Also there is enough humor in it but not enough to be too much, much like the OT. Even though the story is familiar it is solid and Daisy knocks it out of the park. Some of the OT characters that are in this have nice parts, while others (2 in particular) seemed a little forced.

As far as better than the OT? Too soon. I wasn't as big of a fan of RoTJ as I was Empire and a New Hope, so I will say that I think I liked it better. But take the Ewoks out of RoTJ and it is close.
There's no ewoks? I'm changing my vote.

One thing going against the force awakens right now (vis a vis the prequels) is that we've only had one movie to set up and grow the new characters, as opposed to the OT's 3. Most of us really started to digest these movies after they all came out, and so even when you're only watching Empire you're aware of every character's past and future. I suppose if the other films aren't as good (assuming this one lives up to its hype) this worked in their favor, but we'll all think differently about these characters after the trilogy wraps up, and we can contextualize these performances against their larger arcs.

I think it's just that the depth of the mania has taken me by surprise.

I don't mean to say it's silly, I spend time posting on a Pearl Jam forum etc., I just didn't think expect the film would be as big of a deal as it is.

Anyway, carry on.
