How does the Secret Service react if state or federal law enforcement agents move to put someone under their protection (Be it sitting POTUS, a candidate, or ex-POTUS) into custody?

I can't tell whether 'sad' or 'schadenfreude' is the right word to describe how I feel when I think about how if it weren't for the initial 'fire Comey" action we wouldn't have as much investigation into the Russian thing as we do now.
