Guys, I used to be a Jim defender and then I rewatched the show with Lenny's words in mind and it became so clear.

Jim is a selfish douche. It's there from the first season. He is very mean to Dwight and Michael early on.

But those two are even bigger douches.

But they're presented as such. We're supposed to believe Jim is just a cool, affable guy. Yet he is an as*!

Michael's obliviousness gets a pass occasionally though.

I've rewatched the US Office 3 or 4 times now and have to agree - Jim is a total douche-canoe.

And Dwight and Pam's friendship is very sweet indeed.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.
