At least B is trying to defend the warped ideology rather than desperately trying to convince us it's no big deal.

to multiple countries racing to put robots on Mars, in barely over a century and I think... look at how far we have come. We literally just invented a new vaccine against a never before seen disease (outside of a Chinese lab) and have vaccinated close to two billion people in about a year. Yeah... sometimes people are assholes and mock pronouns on social media, but is this 'system' something we need to rage against or just something that needs a few teaks here and there so everyone benefits more equally*?
*and I do mean equally, not equitably.
I just heard a story about a school district here in WA attempting to make Critical Race Theory an official part of the curriculum. Two of the key tenets identified:B wrote:That's what it was.Bammer wrote:I’m not sure, but “Critical Race Theory” is a popular one and from what I’ve heard the basic approach is to separate people by race and concentrate on their differences.B wrote:I was thinking of the one where people of color don't participate because it's too painful for them to watch white people do the work of eliminating their biases.Bammer wrote:I think it’s “whiteness is a disease and you should be ashamed of the way you were born”?
... which I know is a ridiculous overstatement of the training, but I'm pretty sure that's how the conservatives on the board have described it.
Only after we de-colonize it.verb_to_trust wrote:How about we teach kids Math?
verb_to_trust wrote:Seriously though. Our kids are incredibly stupid. How in the world can we waste time on something like critical race theory? If someone wants to take out some student loans to study that in college by all means but let's focus on making sure the under 18 crowd can actually read and write.
All this critical race theory is probably why we've fallen behind the world on STEM education.Peeps wrote:verb_to_trust wrote:Seriously though. Our kids are incredibly stupid. Hear me out as I know this sounds crazy. All three can be taught
Honestly that is due to too many choices on TV. There are like a million cartoons on demand.B wrote:All this critical race theory is probably why we've fallen behind the world on STEM education.Peeps wrote:verb_to_trust wrote:Seriously though. Why not teach people how to think critically before you indoctrinate them. I know, it will make the indoctrination tougher but isn't the goal of schooling to teach people how to think and not what to think.Peeps wrote:verb_to_trust wrote:Seriously though. then no teaching history at all because it is all biased and therefore a form of indoctrination
Teach kids to think critically and they can deal with biases.Peeps wrote:surfndestroy wrote:Why not teach people how to think critically before you indoctrinate them. I wonder if Peeps thinks Germany won WWII? In a world with no facts and only biased analysis maybe there’s a case to be made for Germany having won. After all, they pretty much have sole control of the EU. That is if the EU evens exists.verb_to_trust wrote:Me child.
