I'd like to request that this conversation confine itself to page 139 and then everyone take a deep breath and move on.

Yep.

when somebody says "say what you want about..." (clause A), "at least..." (clause B), they are casually and colloquially talking about two different things; not everyone is having the technical production conversation Trag keeps needing to have

have I defended myself enough now? awesome

I'm also going to start with No Code, and follow it up with Binaural and Riot Act and we all know how that will go

absolutely nowhere did I mention mastering; you did; you set up a straw man to pretend you knew what I was trying to say, then you knocked it down, as yet another egotistical thought experiment to prove to RM you're the most intelligent person in the room

if you felt the first post needed more clarification because you weren't entirely sure what I meant, you could have asked me... politely

you want subtlety and nuance in Pearl Jam music but you communicate like Mr. Blobby
1. Your statement implied that their prior albums were somehow inconsistent in this regard. Like most albums ever made, they are not. Mastering is an important part of that discussion.

2. Unless WCT shows up, I’m confident I am the smartest person in the room about this particular subject. I don’t think that means my opinions have more merit, but it compels me to try to understand the points that others are trying to make at a fairly granular level. That’s exactly what I was trying to do with you, though in retrospect perhaps it would’ve been easier to ask you to explain what you meant rather than trying to parse out the context myself.

3. Who is Mr Blobby?
you THINK?

I love Dark Matter. I like Running. But what i really love is how these songs feel, and cant wait to hear what else is out there

It's a good possibility that it's ME that does not understand what most Pearl Jam fans love about Pearl Jam. Both Dark Matter and Running are lacking a lot of the qualities that made me fall in love with Pearl Jam. I'm talking about both early Pearl Jam and the middle period. These songs certainly have lots of energy but I'm missing a certain looseness and warmth. Even at their most rocking their songs hat an airiness and effortlessness while both singles so far feel like they are TRYING too hard to rock. I think it's useless to assume too much about the creation of the songs but they both feel like they had the agenda to rock as hard as possible. It's hard for me to put in words.
Well said.

But I'm feeling optimistic now, we have two nice parts in each single:

- Dark Matter's pre chorus.
- Running's mini bridge.

There is hope.
