Some dude on Reddit heard a rumour its local drummer and peer Mike Musberger (Posies, Fastbacks). Or he is just saying it.
It could be, but seems very unlikely.
And from now one everyone can drop names like this, as if its a fake tracklist for a new album.

Must be at least somewhat of a big name otherwise why bother with the grand reveal?

Hard to say. Given its Pearl Jam, it’s more likely some medium level name that you probably don’t know but everyone is suddenly an expert on in the 15 minutes after they announce?

Everyone seems to think it’s going to be another guy roughly Matt’s age, but doesn’t it seem more likely they would recruit somebody younger?

Well, the logic behind this is that it has always seemed to be that the band values the personality fit as much if not more than musical chops. They clearly want someone who is part of the collective and not just the guy who plays drums. The assumption that they’d pick amongst available guys who’ve been through some of those defining experiences is grounded in their reality.

Only the band apparently really knows, but Klinghoffer and Watt are sidemen really, they provide window dressing where the drummer is at the heart of things.

I heard it was going to be Thom Yorke. That’s what a guy said next to the dumpster behind Easy Street Records. Reckoning it’s the start of a frontman coup and there’s a rough plan for an Eagles-level feud and litigious-ly fraught breakup and subsequent documentary because that’s where the Post Pearl-Jam Money Grab (PPJMG™) will be.

Replying to a fan’s Instagram question earlier this week about if he (Krusen) was “coming back,” he replied, “no, they have a new drummer already.”
Can we assume he auditioned and didn’t get the job? How else would he know they had a new drummer prior to Stone’s announcement?
