I hope to god this post ages poorly and can be used against me forever but man Tua has been a major disappointment so far. Please be better in the second half.

Great drive. If he needs me to doubt him to play well, then so be it.

Much better second half. Let’s remember, he’s like what, 22? 23? It’s gonna take him a while ON the field to establish himself. They have 4 tough games to close it out. If they end up 10-6 and maybe win a payoff game, that wouldn’t be a bad year. And the future is so bright.

Ugh jfc this is just like the FB fan groups. Tua is playing above avg compared to even the great qbs in their rookie seasons. And look at our wrs and play calling and lack of running attack. He looked really good at times and average at others. Be happy. And outside of the offense you should be thrilled at how the rest of the team looks In just the second year of a major rebuild. Way ahead of schedule.

He was much, much, much better in the second half yesterday after a pretty poor first half. Idk how much of it is on Gailey, but the ultra conservative playcalling for Tua (or ultra conservative play of Tua?) has been driving me up the wall. He looked really good yesterday once it seemed like they decided to let him play a little bit. Here's to hoping that can be a turning point.

It's a combination of all of the above, including WRs' lack of separation, rookie OLs. In Alabama he had wide open receivers. This is all new to him and he's been showing improvement and has yet to throw an INT, which is in part due to his ultra conservative play style, which has actually been paying off. He has a great feel for the game; when and when not to take risks. If he doesn't see it clearly, he's usually not going to just chuck it up there to a Parker like Fitz would. Against the Chiefs, he probably will have an INT because he will have to play much more aggressively, and that will be in the game plan, surely.

You're definitely more impressed with him than I've been. I'm hoping that it's been the game plan that's stifled him (though that raises the question of if the coaches trust him this little then why go to him?) and that's all there is to it. For most of his 5 games it has been an endless parade of checkdowns and designed two yard passes and that's been disappointing.

My expectations were sky high for him. So maybe it's on me for being disappointed that he's come out and looks like an ordinary rookie. The team is winning with him playing at a mediocre level so maybe that's a sign that he'll do more when more is required of him, but I hope that we see him take some major strides over the next 4 weeks.

When he was up against the wall and had to make a play in the few games we've seen him in the NFL, he usually rose to the occasion. I think of that 3rd and long conversion from his own goal line, and those scrambles against the Cardinals. He hasn't had to make these aggressive, risky plays often because the defense has been playing so well. Bengals' cover 4 zone defense dictated how he played much of that game. The short passes were what they gave him, so he took 'em and later on they came up to cover the flats and that opened up more intermediate passes.

I'm not super impressed, but I do think he's a better option than Fitz and it's important to give him playing time right now. I do love his personality, intelligence, poise, confidence and humility, which I believe are tools that create great QBs far more than physical tools. I don't think he's been amazing so far, but I see growth and signs he will be consistently great sooner than later. I think we will see him play against the Chiefs similarly to how he played against the Cards because it will be a high scoring game.

Not sure if you guys are aware of this show. Probably not cause it doesn't get any views. It can be kinda boring but if you like listening to a guy who sounds exactly like Sylvester Stallone breaking down plays with a lot of insider knowledge who actually played in a Gailey offense, this is the show for you.

Figured I should reply because I'm not ignoring this post intentionally. I really, really want Tua to be great. I don't want to be in a debate where I'm taking the anti-Tua position, you know? I just haven't seen much to get excited about yet. Definitely hope you're right.

What a weird game. Could pretty much use it to support any narrative about the team that you want to really.

By the end of the game, Dolphins had the following players out: top 5 receivers, starting left guard and left tackle, 2 of their top linebackers and top 3 running backs. And when Bobby McCain left, his backup gave those two touchdowns to Tyreek Hill. And they came out and went toe to toe with the best team in the NFL. Very young team, ascending team, and in the middle of a rebuild. Tua actually showed a lot without much to work with, especially toward the end of the game with even less to work with. Not happy about that safety he gave up. Held on to the ball too long a few times. Other than that, very happy with him and his progress. Don't know how he didn't break his ankle there. That replay was scary.

As someone who hasn't watched the Dolphins play at all this season (outside of the occasional highlight), I think you guys have a bright future ahead. I don't know what narrative the fans are pushing, but I think y'all have a lot to be excited about.

This game kinda felt like the season in miniature with extreme swings between highs and lows. But I agree with a lot of what tree said. The team was depleted and more depleted as the game went but they still hung in and fought against the best team in the league, so no shame there. Tua mostly frustrated me during the first half, but just like last week he got better as the game went on and seems to play better in the face of adversity. I'd say he's face adversity 4 times this season and he responded each time except for against Denver. That's definitely encouraging.

But yeah, love Flores, love how tough the team plays even when they're clearly outmatched.
