Thank you for finally addressing this. I really appreciate it. If you'd like any feedback or discussion (as someone who has seen the film) let me know.tragabigzanda wrote:It looks sort of gratuitous to me. I’m extremely picky with my horror — I like to be scared in a fun way, not in a way that’s upsetting. Midsommar sounds upsetting, and also the final sequence sounds both gratuitous and kind of silly. And isn’t it like 2.5 hours long? I’ve simply lost my taste for self-inflicted suffering.durdencommatyler wrote:Cool, cool... talk to me about Midsommar.tragabigzanda wrote:Update: Sandwich wraps and salad. Just a bit of butter on the bun and some pepper jack cheese. No need to get crazy.tragabigzanda wrote:What were the accompaniments?
I hate horror as a genre. This movie isn't gratuitous or silly. I imagine someone like LV who adores the genre wouldn't even classify this as a horror film. To me, it's a great commentary on nationalism and sexism. I thought it was entertaining and thought provoking without being manipulative or pandering in any way. The final sequence especially. It's hard to say there isn't any "self-inflicted" suffering. There is, but it's all about context and statement. To me, it's opening up a valuable conversation and a provides a super prescient and timely context.tragabigzanda wrote:Well I’d gladly hear your take on it; would appreciate understanding what you might have found enjoyable about itdurdencommatyler wrote:Thank you for finally addressing this.
