Re: The Running Thread
One of my favorite things about running is how, early on, the build and gains feel exponential. It feels a lot bigger in the mind to add a half a mile to a one mile run than later on when you add another mile to the end of a 12 mile run, you know?argo wrote:I'm just weak. I shall get stronger
And running/walking increments are great for this. I remember the feeling of immense gains when I got to a level where my walking intervals were finally shorter than my running intervals (google "couch to 5k" plans or "galloway intervals".)
The body adapts rapidly at first, then sort of levels out where the HR training I'm talking about (and just getting used to myself) takes over. Then the fun of fine tuning begins.

Weather's fine. Low 40s, might rain. Do you want me to go out again today?

Re: The Running Thread
I have a pair of New Balance trail runners that they don't make anymore and are honestly a bit worn out. I need new shoes, too

Saucony Ride 13 (under $90 right now) for road and light trail.Malloy wrote:when my pt says i can start running, im back. what running shoes do you sporting fellows use?
Brooks Catamount ($160 but I love them) or Saucony Peregrine ($100 right now) for trail.

Re: The Running Thread
I really like my Saucony's. Good balance between support and speed for the distance and pace I typically run.
Definitely go get fitted.

I’ve realized I don’t really care for Brooks aesthetically, but I would like to try a pair.

Re: The Running Thread
I started on Brooks but eventually wanted something a little more exciting. Whatever you decide, know that a lot of last year's shoes are a deal this time of year -- like the $90 pair Hatfield mentioned. You can probably get some for even less. I like to check the clearance section of runningwarehouse.com
