A female lead is nothing new or original. There have been females using the force in the prequels.
I don't see how gray area of force using is anything special or interesting in these movies.
Diversity in cast is cool, but it's nothing new in movies in general these days.
But this new trilogy doesn't answer any burning questions anyone needed answers to. Did you feel the same way about the Prequels with Lucas making them? We knew most of the major story beats there too.

For the series, sure. But there are other movies with plenty of interesting female characters. SW is doing nothing new.
