Poe is into her, but she friendzone's him. She cares about him, but not romantically (which is sealed in the kiss on the forehead rather than the lips when he is healing before she leaves). He becomes family/a brother
Poe is into who? He only meets Rey in the end of TLJ.

I guess George Lucas doesn't understand Luke, either. :)

Actually they way they explained it in the article sounded a lot better than what we got.

I’m a fuckin hardcore die hard TFA fan but George’s idea for episode 7 sounds like an infinitely better film.
It's the more obvious direction (not necessarily a critique. Obvious is not always a bad thing). What we got basically gave this Kira character a movie's worth of backstory

I think they had valid reasons in the article, feeling that Luke's story was ruined. I agree with that.

I am talking about Finn and Poe. I felt they had a connection, and thought Disney might go for it. Would have been interesting.

what element of the story do you think 'ruined' luke. It was the Force Awaken that created the 'jedi in hiding due to the betryal of his nephew'. Is your issue with that or the direction Johnson took it?

OH god.
The red letter media review is out and the TLJ hate brigade are using it as their new favourite argument.

Ugh.

No, no. I still dont get how Poe had an arc or Finn...or Rose.
Poe absolutely did.

Finn and Rose story is weaker, yes. But we all mostly agree on that.

And also, this is stillt he middle part of the saga! Reserve some judgement until we see the completion of the story!
Oh yeah, im talking about this movie. This story. And guys, im not saying it a piece of crap. Relax...this are idead.
I think they arc or story or whatever was weak, and most of what happened with Poe was misleading just because they need it for the audience.
I am relaxed.

But my point is, the arc's aren't complete, their transformation is not complete but this episode absolutely moved the characters forward. And i also agree that Finn's story was a little weak though I believe him killing Phasma will cement his pale firmly on the side of the resistance. he's had the tendency to run away and not be fully commuted tot he cause in both of the films. I believe in episode 9 that will change and its all due in part to his adventures in this episode. He feasted his eyes on canto bight and originally was in aw of the place until Rose explained to him what this place all means in the greater galaxy of star wars. He witnessed the dichotomy between the two class systems on that adventure which then begin to influence his decisions moving forward.
In both films Finn has needed a partner or he has lost heart and wanted to desert. He has been told what to do for his entire life up to deserting the First Order. His partnering with Rose is not only consistent but crucial for his character.

Another aspect of this film that I enjoyed/appreciated is the failings that many character experienced. Too often in tv dramas only successful avenues are explored. Watch any cop show and any interview situation will garner a lead. In TLJ they experience dead ends and betrayal
Finn has never made a choice or committed to a side. He does at the end of this film. It's Rose that guides him to a place where he is able to choice a side. And without his experience on Canto Bight with rose and with DJ (which stands for "Don't Join") he would not have grown and been able to ultimately choose. It's not the best storyline in the film, to be sure, but there what is learned, what Finn goes through is absolutely necessary to the character and the story.

stip wrote:Rey isn't really a love interest. He's pining for meaning.

Finn's initial story (the desire to find something to belong to) concludes here. But it's a continuation, not a rehash. The first movie is about his devotion to Rey, and this one expands it to the larger Resistance
Once again... what Stip said.
