dad wrote: Sun July 12, 2026 10:31 pm Had dinner at Vin Papillon last night. Run by the same people who run Joe Beef, and literally two doors down from each other.
Ended up getting the trout.
Gonna try Oncle Lee tonight.
Sounds fantasticdad wrote: Wed July 15, 2026 1:15 am Joe Beef.
Excellent, excellent, excellent.
We sat at the nook of the bar as you walk into that part of the restaurant. Perfect spot. Amazing service all around. Top tier dining experience.
The bartender was great. As was the guy who helped us pick our wine, who’s a transplant from Virginia, the other servers and staff who popped by to converse with us about our stay here, as well as provide suggestions for our upcoming short visit to Quebec City…all of them were the sweetest people. I know they’re in hospitality, but they took a LOT of their time to talk with us, and they were the best.
We started with a gimlet and an another gin drink I can’t remember, but it was delicious. Then a bottle of folle Blanche from Loire Valley.
For dinner we started with the shrimp cocktail, then foie gras double down, which was an homage to the KFC double down…zucchini w/pesto, pine nuts, and a cheese I can’t recall, and rabbit sausage w/potatoes.
That was easily the best meal we had in Montreal too.
awesome...the staff was great there last time...the bartender was a huge patriots fan and the sous chef was a big bronco fan..we all had a good chat..glad you 2 had a great time...dad wrote: Wed July 15, 2026 1:15 am Joe Beef.
