that actually could be interesting because I happen to love both of those movies.. but I'm sure they'll fuck it up somehow

This one sounds interesting:
Werner Herzog's UNO movie ("A bittersweet tale of isolation that turns into a vital but scattershot meditation on his fears for a future without him in it.")

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

These companies are gonna keep churning out IP-driven content. At least Mattel seems interested in different takes and expanding ideas. It all sounds weird and exciting. I'm here for it. Of course I'd prefer "new" ideas, not just recycled cartoons and nostalgic toy properties. But this is where we are. And I'm sorry but a version of Being John Malkovich with Daniel Kaluuya as John Cusack and fucking BARNEY as John Malkovich sounds way more exciting to me than "plushy purple dinosaur from your childhood sings about his friends and teaches lessons to a new generation of kids."

Also, if Barbie is a true indication, Mattel is letting their talent have creative freedom. After years of directors and writers leaving things like Star Wars because they won't "play ball" I think this is refreshing. Maybe these movies will be terrible. But it's exciting that a company is willing to try something a little outside the box.

Lena Dunkin' is possibly the worst person in the world. She and her Polly Pocket movie can get in the sea.

As can Joe for being excited about it.

the idea of Mattel cinematic universe of movies geared to adults is the most cringe thing I've ever heard of. These articles read like fucking April fool's day prank articles

Gen X needs to grow up.

It's so weird to catch a video of an adult my age with shelves full of kid crap in the background

I know I was defending the idea of IP movies very recently.

But this is something else. This has irony baked right into it and it's gross.

Greta Gerwig and Barbie could interesting because Barbie is an iconic character with decades of history and meanings and a lot to play with. But a Barney movie about millennial angst? A Polly Pocket movie by Lena Dunham? It's just gross, I don't know

maybe some of these will be more of the biopic/how-it-was-made sort.. you know, like AIR and BLACKBERRY
