I had a three minute conversation with him at the 2007 PGA Championship. He was on some random hole, I recognized him, and asked him a question about how to get hired out of college. That question morphed into a conversation about the Celtics trade that summer and what it meant for the rest of the league. He was kind, thoughtful, genuine, and silly in that brief chat. He didn't have to even turn around to address me but he did. I'll always remember that.

We lost a good one team.

Be that as it may, he is the greatest shooter we've ever seen. That contract might be quite as onerous by year 4 or 5 anyway, but either way I'd imagine the real fear would be injuries, not age-related decline. Sure, he'll lose some quickness and get fewer steals and blow by guys to the basket less, but that 3 point range ain't going anywhere.
