Which is really amazing when ya look at the stats for the starting pitching.spike wrote:brewers hanging tough at 30-33
Be interesting what they do over the next month heading into the trade season. Braun, Lucroy, Villar, are all being looked at.

aaron hill's played well enough to get some interest too. they'll unload lucroy for sure, braun if they can, and i suppose villar too, since arcia's ready. which also means they've probably already won nearly half the games they're going to this season. /:MadTIGERmaN wrote:Which is really amazing when ya look at the stats for the starting pitching.spike wrote:brewers hanging tough at 30-33

I have to thank Pete Rose for being an idiot. Almost no one was even talking about Ichiro passing his hit total until he said something.
MLB should be making a far bigger deal about this. NO ONE is going to get to 4,000 hits again anytime soon.
Rose can cry all he wants, dont worry, your name will still be atop the MLB record books. But Ichiro, is the best pure contact hitter of all time.

Who could totally hit more home runs whenever he wants to.

Ichiro is approaching 3000 hits, which is still 1200 or so away from Pete's record. Why would MLB make a huge deal out of that?MadTIGERmaN wrote:I have to thank Pete Rose for being an idiot. Almost no one was even talking about Ichiro passing his hit total until he said something.

Also Ichiro can brag about not being banned for life by MLB because of his degenerate gambling habit.MadTIGERmaN wrote:I have to thank Pete Rose for being an idiot. Almost no one was even talking about Ichiro passing his hit total until he said something.

Maybe Pete rose is right and they will screw it up but this cubs team is set up to win a world series in the short term future and it's most likely going to happen. I wish I had the energy to dig up the post i made before this cubs thing really took off about how the cubs world series parade was going to cripple Chicago with pure awfulness. That preening douchebag Matt Lament jumped down my throat immediately. If someone sees him shooting a porn or something in a US Cellular Field bathroom after the Cubs win it all tell him I said told you so for me.

Japan plays a shorter season than the U.S., if the Japanese leagues played the same number of games as the U.S. hed already be far past Rose. Yes, it was in Japan, but when you take into consideration, his "hits per at bat" averages INCREASED in the U.S. and you look at what he did his first 9 years in the U.S. (ya know, 200+ hits including a record 262) its a pretty safe to say Ichiro is the King.cutuphalfdead wrote:Ichiro is approaching 3000 hits, which is still 1200 or so away from Pete's record. He's not breaking an MLB record so this should be treated like any other milestone.

Yeah, i really dont like when they try and pretend that any other league should count. Ichiro's MLB accomplishments are special enough without adding in other things to try and fit a narrative.cutuphalfdead wrote:We don't count the minors, we don't count Japan.MadTIGERmaN wrote:Japan plays a shorter season than the U.S., if the Japanese leagues played the same number of games as the U.S. hed already be far past Rose. Re: MLB
Thats the problem guys
HE IS one of the all time greatest players / pure hitters in MLB History. And people just dont realize it because he only played half his career here, so the numbers dont look like hes one of the all time great players. And anytime someone starts the conversation, idiots like Rose say "half his stats were in Japan it doesnt count"
When I went to the Brewers/Marlins game back in April, he came up, I stood up and applauded. Guy behind us is, who from talking to him, knew his baseball had no idea he was even approaching 3,000, had no idea he holds the record for consecutive seasons with 200 hits, so on.
The Marlins broadcast put it best last night.
Yes Rose holds the record, no Ichiros not breaking it, but this is a chance to celebrate both players.
Look how many hits Rose had, no ones getting close to that. Ichiro could have possibly, if he played his whole career in the U.S. end of story

Do we get to count Rose's 427 minor league hits, too?

Re: MLB
Who's not realizing he's one of the best? He was talked about at length in the "Is he a hall of famer thread". And most said he was prob a first balloter, even without 3000. Your evidence that no one is realizing it is some anecdotal evidence from a clueless stranger?MadTIGERmaN wrote:Thats the problem guys

What is the issue here, MLB isn't making a big enough deal to count his non-MLB hits? Sorry, those hit weren't against MLB talent and don't count.
