aaron hill's played well enough to get some interest too. they'll unload lucroy for sure, braun if they can, and i suppose villar too, since arcia's ready. which also means they've probably already won nearly half the games they're going to this season. /:

Maybe Pete rose is right and they will screw it up but this cubs team is set up to win a world series in the short term future and it's most likely going to happen. I wish I had the energy to dig up the post i made before this cubs thing really took off about how the cubs world series parade was going to cripple Chicago with pure awfulness. Yeah, i really dont like when they try and pretend that any other league should count. Ichiro's MLB accomplishments are special enough without adding in other things to try and fit a narrative.

HE IS one of the all time greatest players / pure hitters in MLB History. And people just dont realize it because he only played half his career here, so the numbers dont look like hes one of the all time great players. And anytime someone starts the conversation, idiots like Rose say "half his stats were in Japan it doesnt count"

When I went to the Brewers/Marlins game back in April, he came up, I stood up and applauded. Guy behind us is, who from talking to him, knew his baseball had no idea he was even approaching 3,000, had no idea he holds the record for consecutive seasons with 200 hits, so on.

The Marlins broadcast put it best last night.
Yes Rose holds the record, no Ichiros not breaking it, but this is a chance to celebrate both players.
Look how many hits Rose had, no ones getting close to that. Ichiro could have possibly, if he played his whole career in the U.S. end of story

it probably has more to do with him playing on the west coast most of his career, where the games don't start til after 10pm in the rest of the country.

Do we get to count Rose's 427 minor league hits, too?

Who's not realizing he's one of the best? He was talked about at length in the "Is he a hall of famer thread". And most said he was prob a first balloter, even without 3000. Your evidence that no one is realizing it is some anecdotal evidence from a clueless stranger?

What is the issue here, MLB isn't making a big enough deal to count his non-MLB hits? Sorry, those hit weren't against MLB talent and don't count.
