Walking through a boheme-arts district, on the way to a brewery. People riding their bikes around while wearing Antifa-style head gear and clothing. We were obvious outsiders, and it made my wife and I nervous.verb_to_trust wrote:What about being there made you nervous?Iholdthepain wrote:Can't say I didn't look over my shoulder a bit on a recent trip to Portland. Forest Park is an awesome city park, but there's Antifa graffiti all over the place. That was a bummer to walk through and see.

Vancouver just wrecked the world for you. The English Bay area is so inclusive that it puts most places to shame.Iholdthepain wrote:Walking through a boheme-arts district, on the way to a brewery. I loved Vancouver! Walking that sea wall, we were commenting on just how inclusive it is there... live and let live, and all thatsurfndestroy wrote:Vancouver just wrecked the world for you. If you seriously think antifa are going to be out here jumping some middle class white couple who aren't at a rally or wearing a maga hat you have absolutely no grasp of what's happening in this country and why.

Really? I haven't bicycled through Portland in a year so that's terrible to hear.Iholdthepain wrote:Walking through a boheme-arts district, on the way to a brewery. Though there are some places that I rode through that you can see from the interstate and the homeless camps are probably twice as big now. It would be so easy to end this - and drop housing prices!
And yes I know it isn't really that easy, but it's a good first step. Way better than "well something's gotta be done about this!" that you hear from so many people.

To be fair lots of white, middle class couples own a MAGA hat, and have probably been told they're targets.

We didn't think that we were gonna get jumped, but its kinda strange seeing so many extremists riding around with their faces covered up. Doesn't happen in my part of the country, and didn't make it a very pleasant stroll.Mickey wrote:If you seriously think antifa are going to be out here jumping some middle class white couple who aren't at a rally or wearing a maga hat you have absolutely no grasp of what's happening in this country and why.
We don't own MAGA hats, nor would we, for the record.

Exactly! This is what's going on in our country, and on both sides. Its a sad state of affairs. I'll vote, but other than that I'm out of the political bullshit! Too scary anymore, in the US, to let others know too much about your ideals and beliefs...Rob wrote:To be fair lots of white, middle class couples own a MAGA hat, and have probably been told they're targets.
