One of the best songs ever, it was released in 1987, and it was written by the one and only Izzy Stradlin.

It was one of those Beatles like moments in the Guns n Roses history. When Axl heard Izzy play this downstairs from where he was. He was instantly mesmerized, even after having known each other for a year or two, it proved to him Izzy's potential. It was a really defining moment in their career. Axl later championed that they record it and put it on the record.

I just looked up in Pearl Jam Twenty about Elderly Woman, and it doesn't have the juiciest part of the story, but it does mention Stone sitting somewhere outside the studio, and hearing from afar that Ed was working on the song. The paragraph in a rather boring way says he liked it, and they recorded the song the next day. It was somewhere else I read that it was a groundbreaking moment for Stone. He absolutely loved the song, making him push it onto the agenda, and more importantly, it helped him see Ed in a different way.

We already had one of these
not a mega tournament
I don't want to run one of these unless I am familiar with the catalog. I really just know his hits. I'd participate, but I don't feel like being in charge of that.

If someone wants to volunteer to run a petty tournament I'm sure we could get that set up for you. I would wait to do something else until it completed.

Just do Zeppelin. It would attract the most people and they have a dense catalogue of great shit.

that'll likely be it. It would feel like a letdown to do STP over Lanegan or Waits or U2, and we just listened to half their stuff.

Maybe the Zeppelin tourney will be the end of both.

I, for one, will never divorce him.

I'd love to see a Mogwai tournament, but I know I'd probably be only one of like four people who would be interested.
