I like Zeppelin quite a bit but there’s other bands from the same period I like way more and I don’t know if there’s a Zeppelin album I enjoy all the way through.
I don’t know if it will win it all, but it should definitely be in the finals.stip wrote:when the levee breaks is my prediction for the winner
but it is a cover song...stip wrote:when the levee breaks is my prediction for the winner
It transcends such labels.E.H. Ruddock wrote:but it is a cover song...stip wrote:when the levee breaks is my prediction for the winner
yeah, I need to back off my stance here. I'm starting to feel like mjdLoathedVermin72 wrote:Who cares? It sounds how it sounds.
Normally, I'd be all about your argument here, Ruddo. But the Zep version sounds completely different. They didn't just make someone else's song their own, they almost made a new song that is their own. Complete reinvention. Factor that in with the way it was recorded and all of the interesting things they did to make it sound the way their version sounds and I think When the Levee Breaks is the exception that proves the rule.E.H. What is "Led Zeppelin's motto"?durdencommatyler wrote:they almost made a new song that is their own.
I mean... sure? This one feels particularly so, though. The others all sound like Led Zeppelin versions of old blues songs. This one sounds like Page and Plant wrote it. I was surprised when I found out they didn't.E.H. Ruddock wrote:What is "Led Zeppelin's motto"?durdencommatyler wrote:they almost made a new song that is their own.

Man, I'd just about shit myself if that turned out to be the final. There's absolutely no way this happens.E.H. Ruddock wrote:Just to be clear, I'm hoping for a Levee/Achilles final.
But knowing RM, it won't even get close to that.

Somehow, "In My Tree" will make its way into this tourney final I'm sure.durdencommatyler wrote:Man, I'd just about shit myself if that turned out to be the final. There's absolutely no way this happens.E.H. Ruddock wrote:Just to be clear, I'm hoping for a Levee/Achilles final.
