Drone operations have been crazily abundant lately. Can confirm we're all fucked. Prepare now.

Be worried about the improvement of delivery mechanisms, not the size of the bomb. They already have one, and the ability to blackmail comes from the perceived willingness and ability to use one, not the size.

That's what countries with small bombs always say.

Has Dennis Rodman been notified, and are the Expendables ready for action?

I thought there was a north korea thread but i couldnt find it within the first couple pages so fuck it.

So, these guys are obviously testing nukes on a seemingly regular basis. They have threatened the US. They have threatened basically everyone and we know he is a legit nut case.

Why isn't this discussed as one of the top national security priorities of our time? Legit question because i guess i honestly do not understand this.

Someone modded the shit out of your post, start.

I think it all comes down to the perception of NK as kind of a foolish state run by a bumbling child, so no one really cares to talk about it. However, I'm sure the US gov't at least (and probably China and Russia, too) gathers plenty of intelligence to make sure their capabilities to actually attack don't reach a certain point. If they did, I'm sure we'd see some sort of action.

I vaguely remember that being a story when it came out. Some people thought someone staged it behind him as a joke, a way to make him look foolish? Something like that.

Who was that Iraqi that made up all that stuff about mobile chemical labs that were total bull?

Sure, this guy is only commenting on general instability, but how does he maintain his position/ income without drawing attention to himself as a particularly useful source?

Conceptually basic but practically very difficult. Enriching euranium requires facilities far beyond the scope of what is allowed by the UN, and those facilities are too large and advanced to function in secret.
But NK doesnt give a fuck about the UN. He already deprives his country and people of basic needs so really what is stopping him?

I just feel like North Korea may be the bigger threat?

I'm really speaking honestly and from a place of ignorance on this. Im very curious.
But the UN monitors NK very closely. If he tried to enrich euranium without UN approval, UN would impose further sanctions on their already extremely limited trade. The dictatorship functions by keeping the populace malnourished and misinformed. But there's a limit to how much they'll stand for (and the trade of black market news and culture is at an all-time high). It's a tricky balance, keeping your nation scared enough that they won't completely revolt. Inviting further meddling from the outside world risks collapse of the dictatorship.

There's a terrific Frontline episode on all this, I think you can still stream it from pbs.
So do you think NK really cares about all this? I want to listen to that episode. Ill look it up. Thats fascinating.
