Hung By A Halo is badass. I love the vocals...kinda reminds me of Bayleaf.

Listening to an interview Stone did for their Sirius channel.

Stone is always doing music. Can we change the thread title?

This was great...thanks for sharing!

Kudos for those Brad songs, as well. No idea they had come out.

Interesting views on Gigaton.

He doesnt believe the album has a theme, or concept, there was no plan at all to do that, and while some stuff fit together he doesnt consider it a concept album.

Josh is super important to these guys...He names him being a creative part on the hunted down demo and then in the Gigaton sessions.

something i've been thinking about lately...

the most celebrated guitar work by stone gossard is still "ten". standout riffs, interesting phrasings, etc.

by 1991 stone had been playing/writing that style of guitar work since 1984(sh) when he got canned from march of crimes and picked up by green river after steve's departure. most view green river as a heavy punk influence, but if you listen closer to them (especially "rehab doll") you hear a lot of stone and his style.

moving on to mother love bone it was like he could shed all the punk b.s. and go straight to big and anthemic riffs/songs. MLB still is my favorite guitar work by the man.

so, he was playing that "ten" style of guitar work for around 7 years by the time pj's debut hit.

maybe, just maybe, the man was already over his celebrated style by '91? from the 2nd album and on his style continued to get more and more simple, even absent. i definitely still think "vitalogy" killed any remaining style from those first 7 years, too. i definitely believe vedder played a big role in this "barely there" stone gossard we have today as well.
