That could be actually. He did have it out briefly when Ed was doing I'm Open, but I don't remember actually hearing it, so maybe there was an issue with it.Birds in Hell wrote:Woah, that’s very unexpected.
I wonder if they were having some tech issues with the stand up bass?

One fucking hundred percent. Super interesting tour leg so far. I’m more excited for my two upcoming shows than I’ve been in many years. Not everyone is Bruce Dickinson. Most singers, especially the ones who went all out night after night for hundreds of shows, lose a step. He’s almost 58. Heard Axl lately? Vince Neil? They’re only 2 or 3 years older. For being a pretty heavy smoker, Ed sounds better than he probably should.Coach wrote:Here's my take on the downtuning - get over it.

I'm pumped for the Earthling concert in Vegas. Super pumped. And I saw Pearl Jam in 1994!

Not even always older; Nirvana tuned everything down to help Kurt's voice barely months after Nevermind came out.
Pearl Jam have been doing this regularly with newer material since 2007, it's just now they've widened the scope to lots (but not all) of the older songs too.

This boot sounds excellent. Nothingman is an incredibly strong version.
Love yellow moon and man of the hour as well.
My only complaint is I think Who Ever Said suffers a little from the down tuning, but that's the only song that sounds noticeably different to my ears.
Ed sounds so much better on this 2022 show than the 2016 show I listened to recently. He sounds great, way better than he should for a guy pushing 60.

I agree. This is the best he's sounded since the 2013/2014 tours. Far less warbling. Could be the downtuning, shorter sets, years of rest, or a combination of everything.SJM wrote:This boot sounds excellent. Nothingman is an incredibly strong version.
