AndySlash wrote:i dunno man, these last five shows (i’m including ohana) have pretty much been all killer, no filler. and no overdone covers! i’m all for these shows the way the’ve been. those marathon shows, and i saw a lot of them, were often times a slog once you got to the back half. these low-to-mid twenty song sets really do feel like the sweet spot for keeping both band and crowd energy up while still giving enough variety for every type of fan to appreciate.

shows have typically been 27-28 songs for the last 20+ years. if you cut out the standard 3-4 covers, that's what we're looking at. i'll tell you in september how i feel about it, but i can't blame the band. i wonder if the Earthlings tour had any effect. those shows weren't marathons like a lot of PJs. EV also probably scratched his itch doing covers on that tour.

I didn’t even think about it when I wrote my post. But Ed did have covid so maybe he’s still getting his stamina going. The real judge will be when I listen to the shows.

Didn't Mike have some sort of hand issue during points of the 2018 tour? Not sure if that's a lingering issue too.
I'll take the 23 song sets with no covers over the 33 song marathons with lots of covers. However, 27ish songs is the sweet spot to me.
