This is about to break a billion dollars, making it the third highest grossing film of the year after just 10 days. I think we can put the "Avatar has no lasting impact" thing to bed

Meh. People are seeing it because they think they're supposed to. Avatar 3 will flop to death. Or maybe it will do well because people will still think they're supposed to. But Avatar 4 will flop!

For a while everyone was making this point like it was the most original thought in the world, and I guess it can be considered true if you angle the light a certain way. But it is kind of nice to see the "no one asked for this" crowd reckon with the mighty power of Cameron's four-quadrant dominance
