It’s a design element. Most helmets have clips to attach the facemask or an interior pad in that spot.
Some teams put their names there, others have a manufacturer name, the chiefs don’t.

He needs at least 6-8 years at or near this level to be in consideration IMO.epilogue wrote:I was just having a chat with a buddy the other day about the realistic timeframe in which we start putting Mahomes in the GOAT conversation.
If he wins league MVP this year and another SB does that do it? Three years as a starter, two MVPs, two SB championships and 2SB MVPs?
What if he becomes the first QB to win 3 convective championships? Is that enough?
My friend sent me this article from The Ringer which has this very conversation. It goes even further, putting Mahomes in the Michael Jordan conversation. Fantastic read.

Even though he's already playing at a level far beyond anyone else up to this point in their career?Monkey_Driven wrote:He needs at least 6-8 years at or near this level to be in consideration IMO.epilogue wrote:I was just having a chat with a buddy the other day about the realistic timeframe in which we start putting Mahomes in the GOAT conversation.

Yes, because defenses will eventually adjust and game plan for him. You can see it already with how teams are trying to really limit his possessions. Once his new contract really kicks in the Chiefs won't be able to pay such stud skill players, linemen, etc. If he's able to maintain this play for a few years after that, then he will truly enter the GOAT conversations.epilogue wrote:Even though he's already playing at a level far beyond anyone else up to this point in their career?Monkey_Driven wrote:He needs at least 6-8 years at or near this level to be in consideration IMO.epilogue wrote:I was just having a chat with a buddy the other day about the realistic timeframe in which we start putting Mahomes in the GOAT conversation.

I think your assessment is more than fair, btw.

Yup.Orpheus wrote:The only thing that will stop Mahomes is injury or terrible mismanagement. In any sort of functioning offense he's going to be incredible for a long time. The closest current comp to him is Aaron Rodgers, who's basically had nothing but great seasons his entire career.
Agreed. Rodgers makes playing QB look easy. Mahomes makes it look effortless. And Mahomes has abilities that even Aaron doesn't. I just don't think we've ever seen a player with all of the mental and physical and unquantifiable qualities all in one body.Orpheus wrote:The only thing that will stop Mahomes is injury or terrible mismanagement.
