i remember when the song came out being singled out as a song about a story he had with an older producer. Thats why i thought it was Ballard´s story.

Interesting. I know that song but never thought about the lyrics very deeply. It has a cheery melody, I would've never guessed it was about something so dark

Oh sure. I can see that. Totally makes sense. I think the "supposed crime" stuff along with the age references made me think it pre-dated Ballard. And, again, I've always heard her speak highly of him. But I totally see where you made that connection.

Im not a fan, and im sure ill be entertained with the doc. Shame that she doesnt like it, i guess she is upset with how they are showing that rape stuff maybe?

About the Bourdain doc, i liked it enough for what it is. I think its shows a respectable image of him.

The whole thing feels complex and layered and I'm still processing what to think/how to feel about it.

It's messy. It's Alanis's story, but she's also the subject of someone else's artistic work. Hard to know how to feel about it before watching it.

Also, it seems she doesnt like how they are showing not only the rape thing but her relationship with his band back in the day.

I watched Wayne's World again a while back (it's my favourite comedy ever) expecting it to be super problematic and hurtful (I'm looking at you, Ace Ventura), but it was still surprisingly good and wholesome

do you guys feel bad for comedies you loved and these days might be "problematic"?
