The clip reminds me very much of Back Room era Editors.

I wonder if I'll be content with the spoken word parts or if it will make me think a good riff and groove deserved more. Or hopefully if it is spoken word the chorus will be so good that it wont matter.
I'd be interested to read that, if you can remember where it was; I said just yesterday this song needs the "Bushleaguer" treatment; I love that song, and the same attitude and theatricality could deliver those hammy lyrics about Trump; and then with a really grungy chorus? I'm in, bring on Trumpleaguer

I haven’t been endlessly dissecting it, and only heard it once but it sounded not unlike the intro to a Soundgarden song circa Down on the Upside or Superunknown.

Ed better not eff this one up. I’m hearing more Levee & Show Me How To Live now. That’s a good thing.

I may have missed this in a review but does "Quick Escape" feature spoken word verses?

I actually feel like this clip confirms something I've been saying for years: Matt just seems bored of the fast, punky stuff; he wants lots of open space and slow chug, with which to groove, insert ghost notes and accents, etc. he's merely serviceable on the spritzy punkers now, long gone is his excitement for songs like "Grievance"
that's just what I'm guessing

Where does this idea come from that something must be complex for a musician to have fun?

I guess it's the difference between playing drunken softball with your buddies and MLB. Both can be fun, but I'd much rather watch the MLB.

That’s the legit worst analogy I’ve ever heard

It's a good analogy. Many complex layers in MLB. It's interesting to watch because it's more advanced.

It sounds like "She's Got the Look" by Roxette

you'll probably dislike any analogy because you (seemingly) disagree with my premise / theory
I'm absolutely projecting, as a drummer myself; I know the audience likes the fast stuff, and most people assume that drummers are enjoying themselves cos "drummers go fast *vroom* *vroom*", but for me, that stuff is just boring because it provides little space for flourishes and embellishments; it's by-the-numbers unless you're truly, truly great

Right. its all projection on what you enjoy listening to.
Look, I know its exciting when you come up with a unique and interesting part for a song. BUt i can guarantee they are all having a fucking blast cranking out their music alongside each other. To say Matt Cameron is obviously bored is just a little silly if you ask me.

I've been hearing boredom in his playing on certain songs for years and years; I can *hear this*; I'm projecting my reasons based on my own feelings as a drummer (and the feelings of other drummers I've spoken with about our tastes across my life), but I'm not projecting what I can hear; I know when I can hear boredom, stiffness, lack of creativity
huge disclaimer here: I've enjoyed everything I've heard from Gigaton so far and I'm unfathomably excited for it
