Ed's silence on certain subjects in this interview and the few others he's done recently speaks volumes. Pretty clear that and his family are VERY close with Cornell's first daughter (and wife) but not with Vicky and her kids. Like many have said i doubt there was any real falling out between Ed and Chris more likely busy adult lives getting in the way and obviously some issues with Chris' second wife.lowlight79 wrote:It seems more like it went the path that they just got busy, had kids, familes etc. But Ed was rather cagey when stern brought up vicky's daugther. Redditors for years have spread rumors that vicky was very controlling and was not a fan of Ed's wife and many others in Seattle, but who really knows.lecherouslittlestump wrote:I didn't get that impression. We fans are invested in this romantic notion of these guys been super tight best friends/brothers, when in reality I doubt it was like that. They were friends but - just like most adult friendships - kids, adulting etc get in the way.lowlight79 wrote:When Howard tried to press him on Cornell and Ed responded " it got away from me there" Stern's follow up was just amazing. He roped Ed in and It then almost became a therapy session until he said, let's switch to happier things. Some people just aren't good with death, I can relate to that. This just my assumption, but it doesn't appear Ed and Chris didn't talked much after PJ 20 or after Soundgarden reunited. I just wonder if they had a falling out or just drifted away.
Now if you're talking about Ed and Vicky Cornell falling out, you may be on to something...
Agreed MD.Monkey_Driven wrote:He might also be intentionally omitting things to avoid burning bridges.guitar_davey wrote:96583UP wrote:50 mins in. what an interview
forgot about Ed's fake-humble response approach to everything
pretending not to remember stuff
Or, like most of us, shit from the past blurs together? Maybe us fans dwell on these details more than he does?
"fake humble"

And living in different towns ... Chris moved away from Seattle during the last many years of his life. Add in being touring musicians it sure would be hard to keep up. I have close buddies in town that I only get to see a few times a year at best. Also, the Susan Silver-Chris breakup was super ugly. I'm guessing they are on the SS side of the equation. I always thought the lyrics make it pretty clear that it's about the singer (the elderly woman) staying behind in a small town and someone who left the town returning with lines like:Tuolumne wrote:SO ... am I the only one who was floored by the story of Elderly Woman? I always thought it was about EV encountering an older woman he lost touch with. I didn't realize it was written from the perspective *of* the Elderly Woman. Did he ever talk about this in concert? Am I the only one. Mind was kinda blown.
