There's also a 24 bit 96 KhZ vinyl flac rip posted. Would that be similar to listening to it on vinyl?
It's hard to say. Most torrents that sound too good to be true are just full of viruses.

If you're game enough, download them and let us know if there is any difference.
I have no problem downloading it, and once I get it I'll report back. I was just wondering if anyone has heard the HD Audio version of No Code and if there is any significant improvement of the original CD. A lot has been said about Binaural on vinyl and Binaural with quality head phones, I'm curious if an HD Audio version of one of their albums would be an improvement to the original. Especially since I had no idea there was a HD version available.

To the best of my knowledge, there's no "HD" version of No Code (or any of Pearl Jam's albums) available. At best, it may be a 24/96 rip of the vinyl, however, as has been discussed at length on here before, there's virtually no discernable difference between the mastering of the band's CDs and LPs, so it's probably not worth the download in any event. Additionally, if this isn't something on a reputable private tracker, I'd definitely avoid.

Is this how people get viruses from torrents? I always thought Coach and Reid were making some kind of joke. Nobody downloads things they don't know much about off public trackers, right?...

Conveniently there are no seeders now. I queued it a few hours ago when it was showing there were 3. Came back and my download never started.

That's the vinyl rip. I started that at the same time and it's almost complete.

Edit - the vinyl rip finished downloading. I'm not going to be able to listen tonight, but whoever uploaded this did a good job with the artwork. There's a bunch of scans of the pictures that came with the album as well as scans of the case. All seem to be really good quality.

more or less 1 gb seems par for the course for 24bit/96khz/flac

I used to torrent but haven't for years - were the virus infected torrents proliferated by record labels?
While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

I can't remember ever having a problem with viruses in torrents that had audio and video files in them. If the torrent had a .rar file or .exe in it, I always stayed away though.

I haven't touched torrents for about 7 or so years. Back then they either had viruses or were fake tracks (i.e just a loop of the first 10 seconds of the song, or something else annoying). I just gave up and started buying the physical CD again or used iTunes, there was less fucking around for the small cost.

I torrent bootleg stuff on occasion, but only rarely. Like most all-access endeavors I've found that the downloading of music becomes, for me, more of an obsession with accumulating stuff than with actually listening to it. In almost all regards, I find I'm a much happier and generally more astute listener the less involved my computer is with the process, save for the reporting back.

Wild speculation: No Code/Yeild box in the late fall of 2014 (LB in October, US tour this fall, Aus in Jan, Europe in spring/early summer...they'll need more cash for next Christmas)

That sounds about right.

I hope they give us some good Jack shows from the '96 tour too. Or some Aussie '98 shows...Where was that Brain Of J from that they posted on pj.com to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Yield? It was with Jack, and the best version of the song I've ever heard.

Yeah but those are wav files. It doesn't mean they aren't compressed i know but it's an uncompressed 16/44 wav the size also makes sense. The vinyl rip is 1 Gb+ which would make this torrent at around 800Mb small enough to be suspicious.

The only thing i want in 2014 is a Lightning Bolt outtake EP, 6-9 months after Lightning Bolts release. Mike will make it happen.
