I'm a bit confused by the brigades of far right Putin supporters who claim to be from the west. The Russian apologists do seem to be natural allies on social issues as both they and Putin are against such western 'excesses' as homosexuality and feminism. On the other hand they despise their supposedly leftist government and society so much that they prefer Putin's Russia. My perception is that historically, the far right was ethno-nationalists but presumably slavs are not one of the acceptable white races. Are they just at the point that they feel their home countries are irredeemable, while the far right was previously more optimistic? Is this the natural result of folks reading too much Lew Rockwell and Russia Today? Lastly, who else would they be knee-jerk supporters of if conflict was to the west's detriment? Would Kim Jong Un be merely protecting this reasonable sphere of influence by invading South Korea?

A sad day as Russia has invaded Ukraine. What will the future of Ukraine hold? A peaceful democratic nation in Europe being attacked like this. Unbelievable.

I really can't believe this is happening in Europe in 2022.

How many Russian troops would have to die for Russian public opinion to turn against Putin?

Hopefully we find out.

Biden has said no US troops, but drone strikes at every Russian frontline base would seem to be in play. Our pilots stateside have been training for 20 years now.

Also, does Belarussia get carved up now? Lithuania could make a land grab.

You mean a superfluous thread, right?
I don't think a thread called Russia is proper to cover this event. It also could entail a lot of other issues regarding Russia. This is a thread about what is happening in Ukraine.
