Kinda agree here. Though I also really like the way Kyoto effortlessly rips off the vocal melody on Pavement's Gold Soundz. Like, I genuinely like it, no sarcasm. It feels like an update to that classic tune.

hearing gold soundz for the first time and.. doesn't sound good at all to me.. don't like the way he sings... i don't think kyoto is mimicking this at all

I love Pavement. I get what Reid is pointing at, they share a similar lilt, but I don't think I'd call that a ripoff

Yeah, rip off is too strong a word. It feels almost like a continuation.

Have you heard the rest of that album? Really good album. Kyoto is not even one of my favorites from it.

I have. It's pretty much all I listened to in summer 2020. Just don't really care for her music, save those two songs. In retrospect.
