one of the best moments in my live music history. Ever.

can't believe I saw that performed.
You and me both. That, and the most primal and palpatating take on A Day in the Life that will probably ever happen, helped make it the greatest concert I've ever seen. Without competition.

This is Jorge's four touchdowns in one game for Polk High.

Last time I witnessed a Married With Children throwback?

Hmm...

One of these days I'll try to put together a Neil Young mix for you--I would think someone with your ear for melody would find much to enjoy in his catalog. Springsteen might be a tougher sell but there are probably a few tunes that would sway you in the opposite direction.

I think it's a good thing that stip doesn't like Neil Young, you know he would just ruin it for everyone else with the constant over-analyzing.

And he'd hate On The Beach and we'd all be liek wat!

Yeah and he'd say completely silly things like how Cortez the Killer should have been shorter.

What don't you like about Neil Young stip? I don't know anyone that doesn't like Neil Young in one form or another.

his voice. It is too nasely/whiny for my tastes. I don't always like his heavier stuff musically either (a bit too much fuzz and distortion), but his voice keeps me away from some of the slower or acoustic stuff. There is a DYI quality to some of what I've heard that I also don't really care for. But really it's the voice. Hell, I don't like Mirrorball, and that's about as idealized a gateway as you can imagine.

Honestly, one of the things that lowers my appreciation for second half of the 90s pearl jam is that Eddie starts to sound a bit too much like Neil Young for me.

Fair enough. Who would you say are your favourite singers? You aren't a real fan of non-conventional voices?

Oh you edited.

I get the nasally thing can be a put off. I always find that the soul of the songs usually overcomes any musical shortcomings. But I do prefer things with a few rough edges I suppose.

I don't hate neil young or anything. It's not like the ramones, who I really can't stand. I just don't like him. I also don't get the universal acclaim people have for him, but that's a different story.

Eddie Vedder, Mark Lanegan, Michael Stipe, and Tom Waits. So it's not a conventional thing. If anything, I probably prefer non conventional voices. For a few years I would have included Tim Booth in that list.

I do tend to prefer deeper voices, I guess. Excepting Tim Booth

and it's not that NY crackles and quivers or anything like that. I usually go in for that. My beef with Chris Cornell is that I think he sounds too much like a robot, or someone singing show tunes.

I kinda listened to him despite his voice for a while. Cause I really like his long fuzzy guitar songs like down by the river, cowgirl in the sand etc. But I've grown to like his voice.

He sounds pretty good here

But yeah if you don't like his voice you don't like his voice, there's the odd pj song I don't like or took me ages to like because I don't like the sound of eddies voice. There's always been something about Michael stipes voice I didn't quite like.

Listen to the album After The Gold Rush. You're not allowed to have an opinion on Neil Young without at the very least having heard that album.
