It's a pet peeve of mine. I'm all for vocal acrobatics but when the only thing reinforcing the melody is my memory of the melody, it starts to bug me. Though to be fair this is a tame example

Yeah, she didn't quite go full Aguilera on it, but it's still a little overcooked.

I always liked Michael Stipe because he straight up admitted he could never remember lyrics and live he almost always had something in front of him with the lyrics written.
