At my age, my work friends have become my best friends, but as a teacher, every summer I’m reminded that with one exception, they are just work friends. I see the one every Monday for pickleball and bullshitting. I don’t see the others at all. I get a taste of retirement for 3 months every year, and it’s a little disappointing. On the plus side, I married really well.

I moved across the world at 46, which is a really tough age to make new friends. Fortunately, we did so just before my kid started school, and there are several cool parent couples in her year who were open to making connections with other parents.
I’m an introvert mostly, but really tried to put myself out there and managed to make some good pals. We see each other occasionally at school, otherwise catch up every month or two, which is fine for a group of men our age. We are all busy so there isn’t a lot of pressure to hang out if it doesn’t work out. We make it work when we can. That being said, we could probably all benefit from meeting socially a bit more frequently too.

Definitely hang mostly now with my kids’ friends’ parents.
Most of my growing up besties live in other states now.

I still have the same 4 good friends..we golf, we watch football and we eat...the one thing we have in common is that none of us have kids..never wanted them.we're not anti child, we just want our lives...

I went out of my way to not make friends with my kids’ friends’ parents. I don’t regret it. I didn’t have time for more friends while my kids were young, and now that they’ve aged out, I’m glad I don’t have to try to maintain those relationships of circumstance.
One thing I’m really lacking are couple friends. I suppose kids’ sports would have been the best opportunity for that, but we had zero interest in drinking beers in hotel lobbies while our kids were at the pool.

We have 4-5 couples that we hang with frequently. I would consider three of them to be closer to family than anything (none of us have family in the area). There are several other couples and individuals that I would consider "lite" friends that we see regularly.
Most of my best guy friends live in other states, however. I regularly talk to them either their chat or phone calls and make an effort to hang out in person every year or two.
I wish had more friends in the area that liked to play golf. That's my number one hobby 9 months out of the year.

speaking of, my son's last day of working at the golf course before he leaves for college was today. he was picking balls at the range and came home with 32 Pro V1s from people shanking their shots off the first tee. it's like derek jeter walking it off in his last AB in his MLB career.

I can't tell the difference between a top flight or a pro v1 anymore...they all go 185 yards

I have the best friends in the universe. I'm super lucky to know them and to call them friends. Just hung out with two of them at the beach on Monday. We hadn't seen each other in ages! And it was so easy and lovely and seamless. It always is.

I haven't seen the friends I grew up with since about 2nd year of college..we all just drifted away but I still have more hair then they do...

my mom makes sure to text me every now and then when she runs into them at Safeway..they're miserable and hairless...
