After watching a few of last night’s performances, I have one comment:
Slow. Down. Matt.
It’s like he is set on 2x speed on some of these tunes. I thought he was going to get the correct tempo on this tour, going by the Stern performance of Daughter. Guess I was wrong…

Haven't listened yet but the setlist is very safe. Hopefully just getting back in the groove.

Agreed... on the Stern performance though, you can literally hear Matt trying to slow himself down near the beginning of Daughter. Wreckage from night 1 especially sounded like a bullet train. Ed's already gonna gassed singing night after night but even more so when he has to rap every song.

The sad thing is that by the time they hit these shores they'll be playing more like 3/4 off of Dark Matter each night.

5 is good. 8-9 is probably too much.

are we surprised they played the same 4 DM songs in order two nights in a row? seems odd.

Any reports on the GA pit situation? Wristbands, or just show your barcode? Trying to have a friend come down & join us Friday night.

Immortality was my favorite Pearl Jam song the moment I heard it. My first PJ show was in 95 on the Vitalogy tour, and they didn’t play it. For whatever reason, they always just played it or played it at the next show. It wasn’t until my 11th show in 2003 that I finally heard it. Some woman near me with a terrible voice sang it loudly the whole time.
My 14 year-old son attended these shows with me. He doesn’t know all the songs, but when the first note of this one hit, he said, “Dad, Immortality!” This after I’d just wiped tears from my eyes during Long Road having just talked to my mom an hour earlier in what would be the night before her sudden (and successful!) spinal surgery.
This fucking band. No, they didn’t play Stevie. But they play Immortality. And Long Road. And Nothing and Smile and Alone and holy shit, the crowd made Jeremy special last night. And Do the Ev with the video is somehow even better. And Got to Give debuted, Quick Escape made an appearance, and In Hiding isn’t what it was, but it still gives me chills. This fucking band!

Jeremy live is a banger
some good songs in that setlist
intro section very strong
middle of main set the DM is a stinker - i guess that's when I will just go hang out at the bar cart
some good standards at the end
trending better
the less new stuff, the better
hopefully they can keep it up

Why? 4 new songs in a row is going to kill any momentum of the show - not matter how great and how much we all love the new ones, most in that area will not, and this is something that seems out of character.

yes they will realize they need to give that shit up
maybe in canada they get away w it where people are polite
not in USA
people will be visibly annoyed and tweet about it

I'm not crazy about the record but I still hope they keep playing the new songs at this frequency.
It's their new record, they should want to go out and highlight those songs.

i wonder if WFS is hard to play, or if its going to be an occassion song.
My guess is they are just saving it to give a special moment to a different city, and spread out the love a bit. I can't imagine they don't want to play it, given how much praise it's got. On Howard Stern, Stern wouldn't stop praising that song. They have to know it's a big one, I can't imagine they wouldn't find some way to make it work.
maybe they are literally waiting for stevie wonder to be in the house to play it? then they can invite him on stage and cover 'superstition'
