i agree ed was pretty low in the mix and not the best sound overall. it like there were a few sound issues on stage too. got to give was a total surprise and awesome to get though they flubbed the beginning and ed got some words wrong in came together by the end.

in the 10 years since i’ve seen them they’ve really slowed the tempo down on a lot of the songs and it just sounds fat and juicy and groovy.

i will also add that as someone who hasn’t clicked with the live version of the title track on the boots, it really went off to hear it live and i’m now on board.

i lined up pretty early to get a good spot at this one so i’m super keen for my seated ticket in melbourne.

Great set, loved Got to Give again, but had to laugh at the two auxiliary members surrounded by keyboards, neither managing to play the plinky one note part on the outro, one of the catchiest things in recent PJ memory.

At least they planned to play it.

I don't like going into shows with expectations but I think I'll be pretty disappointed if we don't get it in Sydney, being the last shows of the Dark Matter tour.

I'm still somewhat bitter it got scrubbed from the first night in Auckland

It's been 10 years since I've seen them too. What you said about slowing the tempo was probably the issue a couple of times when crowd was singing ahead of band.
I think I was about 8 people from Mike and was very happy with that after the shit show of getting in. I honestly have never heard so much bitching in all my life from people.
10 club members going off cause "green bands" got let in when we did even though they shouldn't have. I mean I get it, you don't get much for your money from 10C. But small sacrifice on the night.
These same people had no issue pushing past me and my 15 year old daughter to get slightly closer.
Anything beats that hallway and concourse level we were jammed in. I know after nearly 5 hours off being stuck standing around it was so good to get the show going.
Got to Give was honestly very good to hear live. Actually, all the new songs were good live.

To be honest way too much call respond stuff. Corduroy is such a weird song to do it in as well.
It's an outdoor venue that is pretty shit for sound. Or things weren't right last night, so Ed wasn't even that easy to hear to respond too.
A couple of times it worked well but overall, meh.
I think the crowd got up really well for a lot of songs, but I have no doubt all that waiting drained a bit of the batteries.
Loved the extended playing. We had some epic guitar solos. Having listened to a boot since first show of tour so maybe that has been common. Mike is at the peak of his powers surely.

My experience of Australian 10C fans is that there’s barely any of them compared to the States but they’re wildly entitled and insufferable.

It’s their band and they won’t share them with anyone else.

Strange folks.

While I’m complaining, I’m also dead against the fans who wait out all day to get onto the rail only to unfurl a huge banner demanding the band play a certain song, e.g. Hard to Imagine in Auckland. It’s usually these same types.

Weird and entitled behavior, treating the band like your personal jukebox.

for some reason eddie didn't play guitar on got to give, which might have something to do with the confusion during the intro.

He’s definitely suffering some kind of physical issue with playing guitar these days, several examples during this tour of not playing (or playing much less, e.g. only the Lukin intro) on songs where he once did.

maybe it was just our section where the sound was off? some of the youtube videos sound a little more balanced - though it was clear eddie was having trouble hearing himself or stone right from the start of the show.

Twas a good show!

Like others, I was really hoping for Setting Sun - I think it is their best song since Riot Act. Disappointed that we were cheated out of it by the weather.

Some of the song selections were a bit meh but the highlights (I Got Shit, Corduroy opener, DTE, Breath and Porch) were 10/10.

No complaints about any of the core band members - they all played their asses off, probably to a greater extent than they did ten years ago at the same venue. Mike and Matt were the MVPs, this was my eighth PJ show and I don't think I've seen Mike quite so invested before.

Not sure what Boom and Klinghoffer really add.

The stage production was top notch and the sound was immaculate to my ears (grandstand seat, stage right) but I was bummed that we didn't seem to get much/any of the Rob Sheridan visualisations.

Eddie promised at the end that they would be back again sooner next time, which I would really welcome. Ten years would be far too long to wait again.

They won’t even be touring in 10 years.

They never even mentioned coming back (that I recall) in Auckland

The opening track in Auckland (GTF) had a bunch of scenery from around Auckland on the screens ending with a shot of the stadium. Did they do something similar at this gig?

Curious if anyone knows what the Aussie merch prices were? Specifically tour shirt and posters?

We had the same thing but I don't know the stadium well enough to know what it looks like from drone height. :)

Shirts are $60. Got my daughter a World Tour shirt in vintage green and I got a Gold Coast shirt. Lightweight shirts.
Poster $65. Gold Coast options I thought a bit average, but some seem to like them.
Skate Deck - $120
Duffle Bag Back- Pack Thing $120
Leash Dog Leash $30
Think the jumper/hoodie thing was $120 but not sure

That's all I remember sorry.

If you know the big tall Jesus guy - got to be 6'8 that bloke - I was right next to him. Luckily I'm only 6'3 so I am sure not an issue for anyone behind. I ended up moving back a couple so my daughter to get in front as we were getting squeezed a bit.
Spoke to a friend of mine at back of golden circle on other side and he said sound was great so maybe it was that area???

Took a bit of hope from Eddie saying they'd be back. I've basically accepted last hurrah but maybe if they come in 3-5 years like they used too.
