I asked this question in another thread, can't remember where, but is there a noticeable difference in a HD Track versus what we got on the re-issues? If so, what is the difference, what have they done to make this HD? This obviously isn't an official release by the band.
Sorry if hdtracks.com explains all of this on their site. I'm at work and my internet policies won't allow me on their site.

They're definitely official releases; HD Tracks don't "do" anything, they're simply higher resolution files of the existing masters (for the most part).
The HD Tracks version of Ten was, apart from being 24 bit, unfortunately no more dynamic than the existing CD. I presume Vs will be the same.

It was HD before it became CD.

Thanks guys, I understand what you're saying.
So, does hdtracks have 24 bit flac files? If so, where did they get them from? I don't see 24 bit flac files of studio albums available on pj.com.

Sony. They're a on-line store that sells HD music. They get this files directly from the recording companies. They signed a deal with Sony earlier this year. Ten seems to be one of the worst quality files in terms of improvement over the CD they sell.
The benefits from 88/96/192KHz 24bit audio is higher resolution (more detail. think of a digital image in 16bit vs 24bit), greater frequency extension (lower bass higher highs) and higher dynamic range most of the time (greater difference between the quiet and loud parts of the song ie. less dynamic compression or limiting).

Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to explain that.

For sure! I think Vs has the best drumming of all PJ records.
And as much as I love the direction they took with Jack Irons I`d love to know how their records would have turned out if they had kept Dave Abbruzzese.

It's not very often that drums end up sounding like a primary emotional instrument, or like a conveyor of something psychological within the music. This record has it.

I was gonna say I miss this Pearl Jam but all you gotta do is put on the album and they're back.

I just ranked Vs. using
http://pearljamsongranker.com/ and I found it to be one of the easiest rankings I've ever done. I think there's a big gap between the top 8 and the bottom 4. However, the quality in the top 8 doesn't vary much, nor does the quality in the bottom 4.
1. Go
2. Animal
3. Rats
4. Daughter
5. Rearviewmirror
6. Blood
7. Indifference
8. Glorified G
______
9. Dissident
10. W.M.A
11. Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town
12. Leash

He was such a strong musical personality and was just so fucking good. Sure I miss what could have been with pearl jam but I just wish that they had rec'd more tracks. And I wish that he had some more drumming rec'd and released. Ah well, he must be content.

Guys, Vs is my favourite.
I know No Code is more diverse and Vitalogy is more grandiose, but Vs. just feels more engaging. When I listen straight through from Go to Indifference I feel like I've gone on an emotional journey.
