What color guild will Spock be? Got to be blue, yeah?

Here's a MTG AITA for you:

I'm sitting at the bar of one of my favorite takeout places, sipping a beer and playing a quick round on Arena with an aggro deck. Waiting for food to go. The bartender keeps trying to talk to me, but since this is a timed game I can't fully take my focus off of it, even though mono red decks don't take too much thought. Every bone in my body feels like a jerk for keeping more focus on my phone than on this conversation, but at the same time, I didn't go there to talk to people.

Yeah Vulcans will be blue, the neck pinch is a stun spell and the mind meld is a counter spell. Borg will obviously be black. Klingons are red. Romulans are green? This is where it sort of falls apart. Federation is white I suppose. They’ve created the starship mechanics for EOE so that just carries over. Q is colorless like the Eldrazi.

How the heck can you play on your phone? I have a hard enough time on a 10” tablet screen.

It's the only format I know.

Lots of zooming to read cards. Definitely not conducive to entertaining small talk while you're playing.

If someone is staring at their phone for whatever reason, I feel like it’s rude to interrupt. Unless you’re doing something like actively checking out at a register or something, but I know you’d know that.

Guys, I can't get behind vehicle mechanics. Quite simply, I don't truly understand when it would be wise to activate. It all seems needlessly clunky.

And now, Edges of Eternities will be adding to the complexity?
Vehicles, artifacts that need to be crewed to unlock their full potential as artifact creatures, have been part of Magic since 2016’s Kaladesh. But while typical vehicle rules require tapping creatures each turn to serve as crew, spacecraft — a new card subtype making its debut in Edge of Eternities — use a mechanic called “station” to gain charge counters equal to the power of the creature tapped and become an artifact creature permanently once they reach the designated threshold.

I use Lumbering Worldwagon in one of my decks, it’s one that makes a lot of sense to me. It costs 3 mana and seeks a land when it enters, so you’re already up to at least 4 mana, and since you’ll likely have 4 lands at that point, it’s already a 4/4, and it’s just going to grow from there. If you can give it trample or something, it becomes incredibly powerful, and you get a land with every attack. I like it a lot, but it’s usually targeted early because of how you can trick it out.

The spacecraft are going to be more powerful because once you charge them, you don’t have to tap creatures every time. Interested to see how they’re targeted.

Pretty cool looking worldwagon. Honestly, the whole Aetherdrift aesthetic is up my alley. Not a big fan of that set's mechanics but I still collect the cards regularly when the shop is out of LoTR or Tarkir.

I made an Eldeazi deck on Arena and it sucks lol Requires a lot of ramp and every deck I play against is aggro. By the time I get any good cards out, I am down to 5 life.

Anyone doing a prerelease for Edge of Eternities? My daughter and I might try one for the first time.

This is broken. Can't be standard legal?

Legal in everything. Since it’s an artifact creature there are multiple types of removal spells that can take care of it, which balances it out. Being able to give it haste is helpful, because then you can get 2 lands on the turn it comes in and hopefully do some damage before it’s wiped out.

The EoE special guest cards are fire. This link doesn’t have all 10 that have been revealed but they’ll be up soon: https://scryfall.com/search?order=set&q ... que=prints

Pretty unreal ramp. I would say this is the kind of card that will be worth something because it will get played in edh land ramp decks.

I think the downside is that you have to crew it. I often get it out on turn 4, but don’t always have enough creatures that can tap or that I’m willing to tap to crew it right away. But I agree it’s a good card!

Ok so I didn't research the mechanic and just assumed it was tap an artifact to reduce the creature cost by 1.

So you have to pay that each turn if you want to attack? Much worse than I thought.
