Starkey, Stuverrud and Chamberlain are all connected. With Chamberlain they would return once more to a previous drummer. Stuverrud would also be good. Starkey..dunno of that would be a good fit.

I mean, what's Krusen up to? Doesn't he deserve consideration?

what's a good example of his drumming style?

Haven't really listened to much of he and Jeff in RNDM, but the first Three Fish album from 1996 was good.
Oh, and Tres Mts with Doug Pinnick

Wow, really surprising and sad news. Matt has been the drummer at every Pearl Jam show I've attended, and his songs are truly among my all-time favorites in the band's catalog, always pleasures to hear even when I'm feeling a bit burnt on PJ. Great musician and seemingly a really likable person. End of an era, and a huge loss for the band.

thank you, good call, everything nice and clear
the loudness of Matt with the looseness of Jack Irons? and cymbals! open hi-hat! I can dig it, very Neil Young

I know he was in Candlebox for a while, but, has he toured regularly in the past decade?
Hard to re-build that stamina and endurance at that age when you're not on the road with some frequency

Jeff recently in an interview said something ‘it’s like being in the mafia. You have no choice. One of their kids needs to go to college, you have to go on tour’. He said it lighthearted but did he?
And Mike said something far darker to the effect ‘not everyone in pearl jam gets paid the same’
Thought this would be one of them. Not Matt.

Shocking headline - if I'd had to guess, he wouldn't be the first PJ member I would have thought of who'd step out of the band. It's also surprising as PJ's slowed down so much in the past 15 years, so I'm wondering if it is either a creative decision or him stepping away from drums entirely.

Really shattered, and fully surprised to discover that (in spite of all the drummer stuff over the years) it’ll always feel like an asterisk is next to the band’s name, if they continue with a new drummer. I suppose because it’s too late for someone new to partake in a period of creative growth/exploration along with the guys. They’ll mostly (or entirely) just be the guy sitting in on old songs.
Damn. I hope he’s well and happy.

Sad news, but I wish Matt the best of luck whatever he does next! It was a great run in PJ!

It’s some interview he only did a few months ago. It’s posted on here somewhere
