1994-2002: Increasingly distanced from it
2006: Trying to join in, but not willing to compromise some things (guitar tones, etc.)
2009-2013: Completely lost in the crowd

McParadigm wrote:Matt is definitely a more technically exact drummer than Jack was, but Binaural and Riot Act certainly showcased that light processing could reveal a very organic feel and light imperfection to his playing. The last few albums, that's been revoked in favor of robotic control.
Less so on S/T, but yep. Matt's playing is good on Backspacer and is good here, but my favourite Matt records were Binaural and Riot Act, no doubt about it.

For the next record Neil Young should stand in the corner all the time looking angry whenever they're producing too hard.

He fell in love with the 80's drum echo for a little while.
Like, I mean that literally. He thought it was tits for a while.
It doesn't help this band that their lean into computer contained performance represents a decade of their work, rather than the 3 years that Neil's represents.

That just really bust my balls.
But it's as much to do with the time spent farting around between records, yeah? Neil doesn't do that.

Just him standing there like this would improve the next records production issues.

Holy shit, that'd be cool.
I'd want it to be a video album, then. No shots of the band, just...

This has easily the best meme potential out of anything from the new album.
