I think it's good, yes, but it's not a standout. There are plenty of other albums this year that I like more.
This post is borderline revolutionary but I need to see the list
Shut up

It's definitely a vibe record. I wouldn't personally call it boring but there isn't a wide palette. At least, not after just one listen.

I listened to this one yesterday....what can i say...its a letdown for me. I imagine a few of this songs will grow on me maybe...Solar Power sounds better in this context but every song kinda feels and sounds the same to me.

Av club review is harsh but also has a point. I loved this moment
¨However, this mindset begins to take on a new stereotype: the person in their twenties who thinks they’ve seen all the cruel realities of the world, and begins to ponder a new way of life, preferably while smoking lots of that sweet green¨

I listened to this twice (the second time to ensure that I was giving it a fair shot). I honestly can’t think of any circumstance where I’d feel the need or desire to ever listen to this again.

yeah, i kinda feel the same. Its not interesting thematically nor lyrically...it has some very embarrassing and even tone deaf moments...and musically, itrs fairly boring.
What a shame because she takes longs gaps and i was really exited about her doing new music.

got to see her for the third time this last sunday and damn, best show i saw from her.
The crowd was absolutely insane, and she was super happy with it. She just doesnt stop singing and dancing and the whole thing was a blast, even with a pouring rain. It felt like a coke commercial.
I hope she release something soon and ditches the whole band thing, she feels more comfortable live with just a drums and keys setting even if the Solar Power songs sounded so much better live.

new song is pretty cool!!
Kinda feels like something out of Melodrama, which is fucking A in my book.
The four years between Solar Power and Lorde’s newly announced album Virgin (out June 27) have been a journey back to herself. Along the way she gathered tools—books, rituals, and objects (like the water bottle featured in her Instagram profile picture)—that she imbued with the spiritual weight to keep her centered through the dissolution of a seven-year relationship, a reexamination of her gender expression, and the reclamation of her body.
