Why couldn't it have been a band tour after the BDO. Shits me off
I think I listened to the DVD once and have never gone back to it. Doesn't do the show justice.

It's exactly the same at the Chris Cornell shows. :shake:
No, it isn't. Cornell embraces it. Even takes requests. He has fun with it. The first time I saw Ed solo in Milwaukee, he threw himself off his stool and just lay there like a fucking twat. Cornell also remembers what he's playing and doesn't forget words. Also, his jeans are really stylish.
 The mental image is killing me.

He should adress the crowd once at the start, then play a set of new songs no one as ever heard before. Leave all the dumbasses who came for an acoustic version of even flow shitting themselves in thier seats.

I bet when Cornell buys jeans he goes looking for the perfectly distressed pair. Grunge but not too grunge.

With no Adelaide show, and a run of PJ/The National/Bruce, it's logistically impossible for me to attend this.

Oh well.

So I'm guessing it'll go something like this...

Me: So Eddie Vedder's doing a solo tour after the run of BDO shows.....
Mrs LMS: Oh, is that so?
Me: Yeah. He's playing the State and Opera House in
Mrs LMS: No. Not happening.
Me: I thought maybe a night out before the next kid is born, just before our anniversary, maybe
Mrs LMS: Are you fucking kidding me?
Me: Yeah I'm not even that convinced I want to go.

Ya I was at that show and that didn't happen. However I was aggravated at Ed during this show for letting the yelling get to him so much. Other than the dude who got kicked out, I didn't notice the crowd any worse than the few others I saw.
It did. I swear on my children's lives. It was embarrassing. He was better behaved on the uke tour, but in Minneapolis, he fucked up the lyrics to 3 songs in a row almost immediately.

I believe you then, but I don't remember it so I doubt it was a big deal. It must have been joking around or I'm sure I would have remembered a real temper tantrum episode like that.

I found a review:

The tension was there from the beginning. Rowdy and soused, the crowd cheered for a rock show. What they got instead was Eddie Vedder alone on a stool, wearing a leisurely pair of white pants, singing Cat Stevens.

In misguided displays of affection, the audience did all they could to drown out the man on stage, unleashing a torrent of screams and catcalls. All the offenders were in fine form: the requisite "Freebird!" guy; the shrill "We love you, Eddie!" girls; the guttural "Milwaukee!" dude.

"Let it out," Vedder told the crowd during an early round of hoots and hollers, "because I'm not going to be putting up with that shit for long." If only he'd had more say in the matter.

Vedder, who long ago resigned himself to Pearl Jam's meat-and-potatoes fan base, is used to defusing wired crowds at his solo shows, but admitted that this one got under his skin. He tried rationalizing with his fans-turned-hecklers ("I have a problem not just with authority, but with people who scream orders at me," he explained), berating them ("You've never sat in velvet seats before, have you?" he belittled one pack of jackals) and chastising them ("Shut the fuck up," he finally snapped).

He found some success bargaining with them, burning off their excess energy with a sing-along of "Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town," one of the few Pearl Jam numbers in the set. Covers also tamed the crowd somewhat, so he kept them coming, crooning barrel-chested takes on Tom Petty, James Taylor and Bob Dylan, and balancing his John Lennon pick ("Hide Your Love Away") with a Paul McCartney counterpart ("Blackbird").

The crowd's silence never lasted long, though, and by the time security cracked down, dragging one elephantine drunkard out of the theater (a feat that required six bouncers to pin him to the ground first), Vedder had given up. He fell from his stool onto the stage floor, where he feigned death for a few peaceful moments. Though he spun the gesture for humor, his irritation was all too apparent. At every step, Milwaukee undermined Vedder's attempts to fashion himself as a laid-back troubadour, turning him instead into a pissed-off father threatening to turn the car around.

Ya I figured it was humorus or I would have remembered it. I do remember being mad that I drove several hours to the show and Eddie just kept acknowledging the yelling fans instead of performing the songs. I think he was a big reason that show sucked. But you were right it did happen!

Are you kidding? Eddie loves that shit.

He schedules the solo tours specifically so that he can let out all of his pent up frustration that accumulates from PJ tours. Ed can't just spew out his hatred from his Napoleonic desire to control everyone and everything at Stone anymore. And Dave A isnt around for him to turn the whole Real World house against anymore either. All that hatred Ed's storing up theses days gotta get let out somewhere. Ricky Ramone got a little taste of it. Ed was like, finally a day where I can just shit on someone without consequence.

So Ed finally gets his solo show, which he knows will be full of assholes, he fires out the same boring version of "No More", the hecklers come out of the woodwork, and then it's all clear for pissy pants Ed therapy time.

And what better place to let out some steam after a lengthy US Tour than Australia, which has the single highest concentration of assholes on the planet? Practically guarantees the whole "show" will consist of arguments between Ed and some dufus that Ed gets into a shitfit with; and gets to leave victorious with the moral high ground of "you interrupted me" every time. What an injustice.

A few doobies and a male bath house later and its back to bono's yacht to sail back to hawaii where he writes his next batch of songs about whatever comes to mind that day.

Sounds like it's worth going to a Ed solo show for anything but the music.

I'm really keen to check out one of his shows but could without TYAAM..........does he really have to play it every Perth stop? I love Ed but he's no Mark Seymour.
