Yoga is great but it's guys who spout off stuff like this that ruin it or at least the perception of it.

“Yoga brought me the opposite of what most men are looking for — yoga brought me a balance to my personality; that real softness that I needed.’
Jim Keegan, Yoga instructor

Yoga doesn't change a personality, nor is it any better for stress reduction or mental centering than any other sport or activity that requires concentration. Different things work for different people and if yoga works for you, great. I like yoga for the stretching, strengthening and toning aspect but they lose me with their new age Namaste crap.

In all fairness, all that Namaste crap IS yoga. The stretching is just a small part of it. lol

But that's nothing unique to yoga. The thing that separates yoga from most physical activity is the value placed on form over function. Focusing on form is a very self aware process but it's not unique to yoga. A good session of weights does the same thing. I'll do mountain biking sessions and some snowboarding runs where I just want to get lost in the form and the beauty of the form and movement and where that takes me. Appreciative of the moment, hell yeah. Namaste, no thanks.

Surprisingly I have yet to really try it. its pretty huge out here in the mountains and have many friends that love to do it.

In the end, its chicks in bikinis doing yoga. And typically this happens at camping festivals along the CO River so there is booze involved.

I've done it for the last 3 summers. I absolutely love it. It adds a new level of difficulty, but you don't really care so much if you fall, as it's hot, and the water usually feels amazing. I actually may help manage the rentals stand next summer and possibly teach a class. :D

Yep, not last summer, the year before.

My abs are out of control tight dude, and I know because I got an Xray at the Chiropractor's office. They're like BAM! Unfortunately, my tiny little italian body type makes it impossible to show them off! LOL Stupid belly!

Core and legs have never been an issue. I do have wicked weak spaghetti arms! I took a new class yesterday, I have noticed my chaturangas are getting much better!
