the fact that the NFL is looking at a 15 yard unsportsmen like conduct penalty, for a black man calling a black man, the N word, while wearing a jersey that says the R word across the front of it, tells you how much the NFL cares about the Native community.

as the article in the USA Today said today, the name probably wont change until a few major sponsors start pulling out or pressuring the NFL, as the NFL only cares about one thing $$$$$

Meaning the word redskin took up its own meaning upon the induction of the nfl team and anyone born after the the 1940s has only known a redskin as an nfl player

Lumping together and Identifying an historically rich and socially complex group of people such as native Americans by a single term as basic as the (closest pigment we could come up with at the time) color of their skin is about as knuckle-headed and disrespectful as naming a basketball team the Darkies.

I understand that argument, bugs, I just find Snyder's stance selfish and meat-headed, let alone any intended or unintended racism.

At this point, I just want the name changed so we can talk about the team. As it is, when you want to talk about the Redskins, you can't b/c the effing name thing is the only thing on people's minds. Just change it so people STFU about it, and we can get back to talking football.

What it comes down to is they probably want new unis/logos to sell more merchandise
