russell crowe should join the counting crows on stage, the black crowes could open, everyone only plays songs from the soundtrack to the crow, and cameron crowe would be on hand to shoot a documentary of it all.

Would they cover Evil Woman (Don’t Play Your Games With Me)?

I dig it but I'm biased. Wish there were 2-3 more songs.

After one spin, it's just OK.

I like Palisades Park, God Of Ocean Tides, and Possibility Days the best so far.

Yeah those 3 are damn good. I dig Dislocation. Has that RTS/Gil Norton/Cowboys vibe I like.

John Appleseed's Lament is fun too.

Possibility Days was the only one that stood out for me on first listen.

Johnny Appleseed would be the #4 seed for me at this point.

I'm not getting the usual emotional gravity that I've come to expect from Counting Crows. This seems at first listen to be more "fun" or "lighthearted" of course I don't know many of the lyrics yet.

(Outside of my top 3 songs)

After spinning this about 3 or 4 times now it is really growing on me fast.

I was partially influenced by hearing most of these songs for the first time live, and the atmosphere of the crowd sucked.

I'm digging it as well. AD is such a good storyteller. I purchased a version of each one of the new songs at livecountingcrows.com and I agree the crowds were not very into it. Even at the show I was at. It's tough to get into it if you don't know it though.

I did this with Lightning Bolt. It did not work well there either.

Did you have good seats?

Most of the time PJ crowds are great but at the end of the day I am able to make it what I want it to be, if the people around me suck.

Not bad, people just got all quiet when the new material was performed (it was the day of the album release). It got better as the tour went on.

Counting Crows is pretty good at mixing in material from the various albums and changing the songs up to keep them fresh, I'm sure this new record will find it's footing even if the first few listens aren't up to the standards set by their older material. It's hardly their Chinese Democracy moment.

John Appleseed's Lament is officially my favorite song on this album, and it's a good one.

I have listened through enough times now.
