Nah, I don't get upset if a movie doesn't live up to the hype. Expectations aren't a factor for me while I'm actually watching a movie.E.H. Ruddock wrote:oh boy. Are you crushed?LoathedVermin72 wrote:this movie is mediocre, guys

It's just a feminist piece of propaganda isn't it?

What did you expect with a title like Furry Road?Rangi Guy wrote:It's just a feminist piece of propaganda isn't it?

Re: Movie: Mad Max - Fury Road
It's a lot to unpack while I'm typing on my phone, but Hardy is wrong for the role, the action is superficially impressive but never truly expressive or lyrical (the last three Fast and Furious movies have sequences that outdo this movie), the score is generic and does not sell the set-pieces nearly enough (the classical music in the trailer should have played through the entire movie), the digital cinematography is distractingly rough and choppy, the characters and narrative fail to create an emotional connection, and the subtext is simplistic, didactic, and stale. I hope someone else directs the next Mad Max.E.H. Ruddock wrote:Well, break it down for me.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Nah, I don't get upset if a movie doesn't live up to the hype. Re: Movie: Mad Max - Fury Road
ho ho HOLY SHIT THIS MOVIE,..11!!!!!!!!>!>!
I've been in movies where people clapped at the end but never after the first 15 minutes. Relentless and brutal.
Putting on my Loathedvermin Cap of Hyperbole +3 for a second: George Miller just rendered all other car chase movies obsolete.
But after the first 5 minutes, I didn't think so. It gets off to a strange start. For a second I though I was watching a trailer. Cool but jarring. At first I was like "ehhhh i don't know about this. This doesn't feel right." Its too big, too theatrical...
but by the time that
There are moments like that throughout: Little shit that doesn't work but who cares when its surrounded by so much that not only works, but stuns?
And from a design standpoint, there is enough design porn to last me quite a while, and it was used effectively, not just for show. Mad creativity.

Construction next door. We sneak over and snoop around at night. They dug a small but deep hole in front of one of the houses. My dog is pretty big but he isn't exactly an athlete.E.H.
